WHAT'S AFTER BLUERAY??
As a group, we discussed the future of our dvd's and our blueray's. We think one day movies will be put on a piece of hardware such as a flashdrive or a memory card. This would allow for convience and movies being able to be played in more places. We also thought that televisions would begin to have USB ports in them, in order for the flashdrives to play in TV's.

On Demand is life after Blue Ray. What can be more convenient? However, if you want to purchase a movie that you must have, flash drives would definitely be the way to go.
ReplyDeleteI can believe that flash drives will be next, or something like them. Movie makers will always want that profit that they get from the current dvd or blu ray.
ReplyDeleteThe flash drives or something similar are definitely the way of the future. On Demand is overpriced and you can't keep a "hard copy" of the film. They are much more compact and can be stored in less space than DVD and Blu Ray discs.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right on with this.
ReplyDeleteSolid state is the next step.
We won't OWN copies of movies, just the license to view them in our private residences for non-commercial use only.
Basically entertainment media will become torrented downloads which you purchase the ability to access whenever you'd like.
that would be cool and it wouldn't be hard since it would basically just be putting a movie on a flashdrive. getting a usb port in a tv would be a little trickier
ReplyDeleteI'm going to agree with Joe, on demand is and will continue to be next. It's reasonable, you don't have to leave the house, and they have tons of titles. I have DVDs now and i only watch them once or twice so whats the point of buying them, or having a hard copy.
ReplyDeleteFlash drives are the way to go. This will kill all manner of physical rentals though. That will be okay since transfers will be done over the Internet. Now, the only problem is that there needs to be some manner of copy protection against it, otherwise they are setting themselves up for mass piracy.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, flash drives will have to get much bigger before they can handle movies. And so will computer's hard drives, since one disk can set you back 50 Gigabytes.
Flash drives and usb support on tvs would be awesome. Who knows maybe tvs will just become obsolete. Computer moniters are already having better and better picture quility. My friend stores all his dvds on his computer and just hooks it up to his hd tv to watch them.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are probably right. They are always looking for smaller and better ways to display movies. Although if they have movies on something like a flash drive, it would be SOO easy to lose the movie. I've lost at least 3 flash drives. I wouldn't want to spend money (while will probably be more expensive than blurays) on something that I'm probably going to end up losing.
ReplyDeleteI personally like Blue-ray. Nowadays that is the only type of movies I watch and I can distinguish between the regular one. But to be honest something next would most likely be something better. But I don’t know how far it will go. Is there that pinnacle of image quality.
