  1. Marian, understand that this only applies to those who are still using an antenna to receive their TV signal. Those of us who have cable service will not have a problem with the conversion. If your TV is hooked up to Comcast or Verizon right now, you'll be fine come June 12th. No worries.

  2. Um, I am sorry, but HD has nothing to do with the change. The change is from analog to digital - that is what you need a converter box for. HD is just high definition (and we are far away from converting to HD).

  3. I agree with Samantha HD has nothing to do with the conversion unless the person has to watch TV with an antenna which there are people out there that can not afford cable and use the atenna those unfortunately will be the ones affected by this change. For those that have cable no worries.

  4. Agreed with sam and margarita. antenna is the only reason why you would need to convert over to digital.

  5. Yeah, to go along with everyone else here, the change happening is with the type of signal being broadcasted. HDTV has been around for some time, and will not overtake standard def for sometime. What is changing, is that the signal is becoming a digital transmission, so the old rabbit ears will not be able to pick it up. Now that digital transmission is capable of transmitting an HDTV signal, but is also capable of SDTV as well.

Bottom line is that if you have any kind of cable service you are covered, but if you still use old rabbit ears then you'll need to apply for a government coupon to get a subsidized DTV converter box.
